Christoffer Harlang Architects

 

The office is established in 1998 and lead by architect, professor, phd Christoffer Harlang and has at present 2-3 associates.

 

We work with new and excisting buildings, furniture design and product design with clients including Carlsberg, A.P. Møller Foundation, Skagerak, Bent Brandt A/S, Gammel Strand Kunstforening, Overgaden Institute of Contemporary Art and Naturstyrelsen.

 

At present we have two projects in collaboration with Arkitema on site, The Hammershus Visitors Centre in Bornholm and The Ottilia Hotel for Bröchner Group in two listed building in Carlsberg. Both projects will be completed in february 2018.

 

A new door handle called Clavis for Randi and a series of chairs and tables, Robust for Skagarak, will be presented i autumn 2017.

 

We are interested in making design solutions that enhances the qualities of the site, by using the art of construction as a mean of understanding the need and ambitions of the the client.

 

We make architecture in close collaboration with the client and with great care and attention to materiality, details and quality i execution.

Diploma in architecture at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts School of Architecture 1983

Post Graduate Studies at Architectural Association School of

Architecture London 1985-86

British Counsil Fellow 1985

Fellow at Accademia di Danimarca, Rome 1988

Phd on a thesis on Alvar Aalto and the legacy of Scandinavian

Modernism in design and architecture

 

Chairman of the Danish Arts Foundation 2004-2008

Chairman of National Heritage Comitee 2007-2015

 

Visiting professor at universities and schools of architecture and

design in Europe, Asia, Australia and USA

 

Has published several books and articles on Scandinavian design and architecture

 

Adviser and consultant to the Danish Government, companies,

organizations and trust funds

 

1., 2. and 3. prizes in international design competitions

 

At present building Hammershus Visitor Center in Bornholm and The Otilia Hotel at the former Carlsberg Breweries in Copenhagen.
